Listed below is one of seminar/workshops which are available after the current changes to the referenced standards are included. Send email to that shown in the “Home” page to receive formal quotation which includes time for preparation, travel, and presentation in addition to normal travel and lodging expenses. Non-disclosure statements are signed upon request. 2010 EMC Standards Comparison Workshop This half-day workshop focuses on direct comparison between CISPR 22 (including the proposed substitute standard CISPR 32) and ANSI C63.4 for making radiated and conducted emission measurements. Included in the workshop are the proposed changes to both documents showing the further harmonization between them on measuring maximum or near maximum emissions. Differences will be highlighted as they affect product compliance and associated testing especially where different tests are necessary to adhere to each standard. A brief review of measurement uncertainty will also be included. Assessing Corporation EMC Regulatory Compliance Strategies Product regulatory compliance strategies are generally complex based on the cost of compliance, what the competition and supplier are doing, the customer expectation, the emphasis in compliance by regulators, the global nature and requirements for EMC compliance and corporate goals/practices/margins with respect to meeting regulatory and contractual limits and requirements. This half day workshop will delve into what alternatives are available to still meet regulatory EMC requirements and the costs in such items as testing time, design time, and retrofit and cost reduction time for documenting EMC compliance. Time for the remaining half day is to review any corporate EMC documentation with EMC personnel and management. Further review off site is an option as well for an additional cost. Review of primary national and international EMC standards activity The major international EMC standards organization is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) located in Geneva, Switzerland. For most major electronic products using microprocessors/computer technology, the IEC Special International Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR) is the focal point. CISPR deals with emission measurements and limits for a wide variety of products from information technology to industrial, scientific and medical devices including automotive systems. For IT (now called multimedia) and receivers, there is an array of immunity tests and test levels which are also called out. The technical committee of the IEC that deals directly with immunity standards is TC77 and their standards are referenced in the CISPR immunity documents. This half day seminar reviews the work of CISPR and introduces that of TC77. Issues in addressing EMC test and calibration lab assessor non-conformities Most widely used EMC test labs and calibration labs are accredited as to their competency by various recognized accreditation bodies in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. These assessments are intense and often lead to non-conformities (findings). The issue then is how well do the test and cal labs rectify these findings. This half day seminar will point out the corrective actions that these labs provide the accrediting body and how they are sufficient or not sufficient. This should help the labs better answer the non-conformities. Others on EMC standards related topics upon request |
